Westward Ho!
Elizabeth (10) and Stephen (9) take their father on a fun-filled, American history packed, educational and exciting road trip around the West Coast. The first two weeks we'll head south and make it to San Diego. Then we'll spend the next two weeks headed north from Las Vegas to Yellowstone.

Disney is still a surprise
We've made it to Florida and still the kids have no idea they are about to spend 6 days at Disney World. This really confuses me. We were on the train full of families headed to Disney, we walked around Busch Gardens and Sea World seeing people wearing Disney paraphernalia, we even drove right through downtown Orlando and an onslaught of billboards. Nothing.
These are West Coast kids, they think that Disney is in California and "Canada or something like that." They read, and they read well, but as a result are always reading in the car or on the train. Thus they missed much of the advertising. Actually, I think they're just in some form of denial. Disney is in Canada right?- nowhere near here.
So we've made it to Florida successfully. The auto-train was fun and a unique experience in life. The meals were fantastic and the people were very nice. The staff organizes the seating very well. The cars closest to the dinner car are old folks. The further away from the food, the younger and more unmanageable the children are. Our car was practically romper-room.
We arrived in Orlando and headed straight to SeaWorld. By straight I mean that was our intent. Iphone and I do not yet have a good relationship. We care for one another, but our relationship is riddled with miss-communications. She tells me to drive where she wants to go instead of where we want to go. Sometimes I ignore her. Other times I tell her very clearly to call "Olfa Buchanan" but she feels like calling "Bryan and Kathleen cell phone" instead.
SeaWorld was great. It's a cool, non-boring aquarium. We got to pet sting-rays, see Shamo and the killer-whale show. We went on a couple rides. I only wish they served seafood there because all those delicious fish and aquatic mammals made us crave sushi!
Busch Gardens the next day was even better! Susannah made our trip phenomenal. She got us tickets, special seating at the show, discounted food, and even discounted front of the line passes. Yeah Susannah!
Her show, Katonga was incredible. Live theater has come a long way in the past 20 yrs. It was visually overwhelming- it was amazing. Her show was not your run-of-the-mill, "Puppet show and Spinal Tap," amusement park show with corny high school actors. This was professional. The acrobats, "Acros" were Russian-bloc athletes akin to Circ-du-somethingorother. The dancers were incredible "Dance Captains" and the singers were American-idol superstars.
Disney is calling. It's time to go!
